Description

A 3D update of the classic River Raid video game originally developed by Carol Shaw for the Atari 2600 game console and released in 1982 by Activision.

Gameplay

Pilot a jet fighter behind enemy lines over the 'River of No Return' swarming with enemy ships, choppers and fighter jets.

The goal is to collect as many points as possible without crashing or running out of fuel. Fuel can be collected by flying over a fuel depot to fill up the gauge shown at the bottom of the screen.

You lose one of your jets if you collide with the river bank or enemy objects. When you lose a jet the game restarts play at the start of current section of the river. You must destroy the bridge at the end of each section to advance to the next section of the river.

Notes

I've only recreated the first 5 stages from the original game in this prototype. If you manage to progress past the 5th stage, the game will continue by cycling back through the same 5 stages.

This is so cool! Maybe add some rotation to the fighter as it banks left or right but otherwise it plays beautifully. Oh and can you map the pause and restart to the game pad please?

Thanks for the suggestions. The fighter now rotates as it banks right and left. And I just released  another prototype with the Pause and Restart buttons mapped to the gamepad, so this latest build of River Raid has it now too. Use the Select button on your gamepad to pause and the Start button to restart the game. Future updates will have a setup screen to reassign keyboard and gamepad mappings :)

Love it!

Thanks!

Beautiful! I love the art style and it plays  great. Great job as usual.

Thanks for playing!
