Diamond Hunt
Diamond Hunt is a handheld electronic game released in 1982 by the Hong Kong based electronics manufacturer VTech. The game features gameplay across three separate LCD screens.
Diamond Hunt offers 4 games to choose from. You can play a separate game on each of the three screens, or you can play one marathon game where you must try to make your way through all three screens without getting killed in your quest to find the famed Lost Diamond.
Game A
Game A is played on the lower screen. You must reach the cliff of the left side of the screen by swinging on a vine to cross the river while avoiding rocks thrown by a crazed elephant. Press the JUMP button to grab the vine or avoid the rocks. Get 2 points for every rock you jump over. If the Diamond Hunter either falls in the river or is hit by a rock 3 times, the game is over.
Game B
Game B is played on the middle screen. You must cross from the left side of the screen to the safety of the cave on the right side while avoiding rocks thrown by the elephant, angry witch doctors casting electric spells and a hungry lion who wants to have you for lunch. Get 50 points for every successful crossing of the screen. When the Diamond Hunter is hit or eaten 3 times the game is over.
Game C
Game C is played on the upper screen. You must avoid poisonous snakes as you make your way from the left side of the screen to reach the Lost Diamond on the right side. You can JUMP over the snakes to avoid them or you can kill them by grabbing the Magic Axe. If you grab the axe you won't be able to advance until the Diamond Hunter releases it. And also watch out for the giant snake in the tree. If you jump right under it you'll get bitten. Get 2 points for every snake you jump over and 5 points for every snake you kill with the Magic Axe. Get 50 points for reaching the Lost Diamond. Get bitten by a snake 3 times and the game is over.
Game ABC
Game ABC is a marathon game played across all 3 screens where you must make your way from the lower screen to the upper screen. Swing across the bottomless gorge while avoiding the deadly rock slide as you climb up the cliff. Then struggle past the mad elephant throwing rocks and avoid the witch doctors casting spells and the hungry lion who wants to have you for lunch. Then, if you're still game, find the Magic Axe, avoid the poisonous snakes and recover the Lost Diamond. Score 50 points every time you reach the Lost Diamond, but lose the Diamond Hunter 3 times in any of the three screens and the game ends.
