Sonic The Hedgehog

Sonic must race across 6 hazardous zones to prevent Dr. Robotnik from gaining control of the planet in this 1992 electronic handheld LCD game from Tiger Electronics.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik, the mad scientist, is snatching innocent animals and turning them into evil robots in his quest to find six chaos emeralds to gain control of the planet! Only Sonic, the real cool hedgehog with the spiked haircut and power sneakers that give him super speed, can put an end the demented scientist's fiendish scheme and save the planet before it's too late. It's an awesome adventure at ultimate speed!

You play as Sonic. You can run incredibly fast - and with the power sneakers, you can run even faster! You'll need all your speed and your "Super Sonic Spin" to defeat Dr. Robotnik in six hazardous zones of adventure! You begin with 3 chances. If you lose all your chances, the game is over. You fight in one hazardous zone per stage. When you defeat all the robot animals in a stage, you'll face off against Dr. Robotnik himself. Defeat the mad scientist and you'll get a chance to collect a chaos emerald (to score bonus points and restore your lives) before advancing to the next stage. Complete all six stages to WIN THE GAME!

• Try to reach the power sneakers and the invincible cubes whenever you can by moving Sonic forward by pressing the RIGHT button. Picking up the invincible cube (marked with stars) will make you impervious to enemy attacks (you'll flash while invincible). Picking up the power sneakers (a cube without stars) will allow you to run at super sonic speed. Enemies can not land attacks while you are running at super sonic speed! There is a timer for the limited period you're energized by the power sneakers and the invincible cube!
   
• Press the SPIN button to use the "Super Sonic Spin" to attack robot animals in the middle of the screen. Press the SPIN and UP buttons together to jump even higher and attack enemies at the top part of the screen and to collect chaos emeralds.
   
• Collect the chaos emerald that appears at the end of each stage (for a limited period) to restore all you lives before heading to next stage.
   
• In the fourth stage of the game (the Labyrinth zone) look out for water pools. Falling into one moves Sonic underwater. You must get back to the surface before you run out of oxygen. You'll lose a chance if you can't return to the surface before the oxygen counter counts down! To return back to the surface hold down the UP button until Sonic emerges from the water.
   
• In some stages of the game a bumper will appear at the top of the screen. Hit the bumper (by pressing the SPIN and UP buttons together) and sonic will be thrown all around the screen and knock out any robots animals in his path.
