Description

Fire, the fourth title in Nintendo's Game & Watch™ series of handheld LCD games, remains a classic that still manages to intrigue players today. With a production run of one million units it was so popular Nintendo re-released it a few years later in the more colorful Wide Screen edition.

Gameplay

The tenants of a burning building are jumping out of windows to save themselves. Use the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to position two fireman carrying a rescue net under the jumpers so that they can be bounced safely towards the waiting ambulance. Score one point for every jumper safely transported to the ambulance.

As the score increases the number of jumpers and the speed at which they fall will increase for added difficulty. If you fail to catch one of the jumpers you will lose one life. Lose three lives and the game is over. In Game B the speed at which the jumpers fall remains constant but up to nine of them can be on screen at the same time.

Trivia

Originally the game was designed to have the building on the right and the ambulance on the left of the screen but during production a mistake was made and these elements were reversed. Since the production error did not affect gameplay it was released anyway. You can find out more in the Gallery Corner of Game & Watch Gallery 3 for the Game Boy Color.
