Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong is probably the best known and most popular game in Nintendo's Game & Watch series of handheld electronic games. In this edition, first released in 1982, Donkey Kong has kidnapped a pretty girl (that's what the instruction guide says) and made her prisoner at the top of a construction site. Mario, who was a carpenter at the time (again, from the instruction guide), must take down Donkey Kong and rescue the girl.
Just like in the arcade game on which it was based, Mario must make his way up a series of girders while jumping over rolling barrels that Donkey Kong has thrown down to stop him. But, unlike in the arcade version, he also has to ensure that he doesn’t bang his head on passing metal beams with a poorly timed jump. Not only that, but in order to take down Donkey Kong, he needs to activate a crane and make a heroic leap onto its swinging hook to remove the supports on Donkey Kong’s platform. Remove all four cables and the platform supporting Donkey Kong collapses.
