Description

Donkey Kong Jr. was the first title released by Nintendo in their New Wide Screen series of Game & Watch handheld electronic LCD games.

Gameplay

Mario has captured Donkey Kong and it's up to his son, Donkey Kong Jr., to rescue his papa by collecting keys to unlock his cage. To reach the keys, Donkey Kong Jr. must dodge snapjaws and birds by jumping and grabbing vines to reach the upper level of the screen, where he'll need to time his jump perfectly to grab a swinging key to unlock each of four sections of the cage to free Donkey Kong.

Tips
  • You'll need to press the JUMP and LEFT buttons simultaneously in order to jump up and grab the swinging key. Be sure to time your jump for the key when it swings furthest left.
  • When Junior jumps up and grabs a vine, he can hold on for 10 seconds, after which he will automatically drop down.
  • The game speed increases with every section of the cage that is unlocked. Also, snapjaws and birds will increase in speed every 10 seconds until a miss is scored or a key is collected.
