Description

Mattel's "Missile Attack", later re-released as "Battlestar Galactica: Space Alert", is a portable electronic game in which the player must intercept a barrage of incoming enemy targets.

Gameplay

The game was originally released as "Missile Attack" in 1977, but due to the game's cold war connotations, it was re-branded and re-released in 1978 as "Battlestar Galactica: Space Alert" with the exact same gameplay. You can switch between these two releases any time through the game settings menu [F3] or by pressing [TAB].

  • Missile Attack

Computer-controlled missiles have been launched towards a major city. Use your radar screen to track and intercept a total of 20 enemy missiles (coming from the top of the screen) by launching one anti-missile at a time (from the bottom of the screen) using the FIRE button.

Use the GUIDANCE CONTROL stick to guide the anti-missile towards the enemy missiles. Each time you intercept an enemy missile you score points based on how high up the screen you intercept the missile. If an enemy missile makes a direct hit on the city (center bottom of the screen) the game is over.

  • Battlestar Galactica: Space Alert

Cyclon Raiders launched miles out in space are rocketing towards you Battlestar. Use the radar screen to track and intercept a total of 20 attacking Cyclon Raiders (coming from the top of the screen) by launching one laser torpedo from your Battlestar at a time (from the bottom of the screen) using the FIRE button.

Use the GUIDANCE CONTROL stick to guide the laser torpedoes towards the Cyclon Raiders. Each time you intercept a Cyclon Raider you score points based on how high up the screen you intercept the attacker. If your Battlestar takes a direct hit (center bottom of the screen) the game is over.
