Description

Mind Boggler, released in 1978 by Mattel Electronics™, is a handheld electronic game designed to test your powers of logic and deduction in a contest of man versus computer. Can you beat the machine?

Gameplay

The object of the game is to crack a secret code generated by the computer in the least number of guesses by using the "clues" Mind Boggler provides. After turning ON the power, hit the Code Key [?] to have the computer generate a secret code for you to crack.

Every time you enter a guess Mind Boggler will compare your entry to the secret code it generated and reveal the following information about how many digits you have guessed correctly:

  • Hits - The number of digits in your guess that is in the secret code but NOT in the correct position.
  • Sinks - The number of digits in your guess that is in the secret code AND in the correct position.
Tips

You'll need to keep track of the hits and sinks for each of your guesses to try and figure out the secret code. If you switch to the collector background through the options menu [F4] your entries will be recorded for you on a notepad (originally packaged with the game) making it easier to refer back to previous entries.

Trivia

Despite the grouping of holes on the case that appear to represent an audio speaker the device does not emit any sounds.
