Description

Frogling is a portable electronic game released by the Soviet electronics manufacturer Elektronika in 1991.

Gameplay

Move the frog as he tries to catch butterflies. The game features four buttons, one for each spot where the frog can put his net. A miss is scored if a butterfly is not caught. Sometimes a bird shows up to distract the frog. If a butterfly is missed while the bird is around, the player only gets half of a miss (indicated by a blinking miss mark).

In Game A, butterflies will only arrive from three positions instead of all four in Game B. As the game progresses the rate and quantity of butterflies will increase. Every 100 points this temporarily returns to that at the start of the game before increasing again.

Trivia

Frogling is a clone of Nintendo's Egg Game & Watch handheld electronic game, featuring the exact same gameplay, but using the KB1013VK1-2 4-bit microprocessor, a Soviet clone of the Sharp SM-5A microprocessor used by Nintendo.
