Description

Cat Fisherman is a portable electronic game released by the Soviet electronics manufacturer Elektronika in 1991.

Gameplay

Move the cat as he tries to catch fish jumping out of the water. The game features four buttons, one for each spot where the cat can put his fishing line. A miss is scored if a fish is not caught. Sometimes a lobster shows up to distract the cat. If a fish is missed while the lobster is around, the player only gets half of a miss (indicated by a blinking miss mark).

In Game A, fish will only jump from three directions instead of the four in Game B. As the game progresses the rate and quantity of fish jumping out of the water will increase. Every 100 points this temporarily returns to that at the start of the game before increasing again.

Trivia

Cat Fisherman is a clone of Nintendo's Egg Game & Watch handheld electronic game, featuring the exact same gameplay, but using the KB1013VK1-2 4-bit microprocessor, a Soviet clone of the Sharp SM-5A microprocessor used by Nintendo.
